The steel viewing tower on top of Kalenica (964 m) is one of the most recognisable landmarks of the Owl Mountains (Góry Sowie). Its open, riveted-iron lattice structure resembles a mining shaft tower and has crowned the third-highest peak of the range for nearly a century. Standing 20 metres tall, it offers views from two observation platforms.

Kalenica itself is a broad, flattened dome, so without the tower the panorama would be almost entirely blocked by forest covering the summit. From the upper platforms you can see the Karkonosze range with Śnieżka, the Kamienne and Wałbrzyskie Mountains, the whole ridge of the Owl Mountains, part of Jugów, the Bardzkie and Złote Mountains, the Śnieżnik Massif, the Sudetic Foothills, the Kłodzko and Dzierżoniów Basins, and the Ślęża Massif. In spring and summer the surroundings are wrapped in the green of the Owl Mountains forests, autumn brings warm colours, and on clear winter days the snow-covered mountain panorama is especially striking.

• Hiking trails leading to the summit ridge of the Owl Mountains – the tower is a popular destination reached via several connecting routes; the walk requires reasonable fitness but is not technically difficult
• Access is also possible from Bielawa and nearby villages in the Bielawa commune, from where the tower's steel elements were originally transported

• The tower is 20 m tall with two viewing platforms, located at 14 m and 20 m
• Metal stairs inside the structure lead up to both platforms
• A thorough renovation of the tower was completed in 2022, keeping it in good technical condition

Built in 1932–1933 on the initiative of the Owl Mountains Society (Eulengebirgsverein) from Bielawa, the tower was originally named after Paul von Hindenburg. Interestingly, its components were first test-assembled in a workshop yard in Bielawa before being carried up the mountain by horse-drawn carts.
