Szeroka Przełęcz Bielska — known in Slovak as Široké sedlo — is the only pass in the main ridge of the Belianske Tatras with a marked hiking trail, making it a truly special destination at 1,827 m above sea level. From here you get sweeping views southward across the High Tatras and northward toward the Pieniny mountains, the Beskids and the Spiš foothills, with the village of Ždiar nestled below. Two great mountain worlds meet at this single, wide saddle.

The pass sits in a deep notch between Płaczliwa Skała (Ždiarska vidla, 2145 m) and Szalony Wierch (Hlúpy vrch, 2061 m). The northern approach climbs gently through grassy terrain along the upper Dolina Szeroka Bielska valley — pleasant underfoot, with the panorama opening up gradually as you gain height. To the south, the slope drops away steeply via the Koperszadzki Żleb gully. Summer brings lush green meadows and reliable trail conditions; autumn turns the grass golden; spring may still hold lingering snow patches. Wind can be brisk at the top, so pack an extra layer.

Fun fact: around 1765, Brother Cyprian from the nearby Red Monastery (Červený Kláštor) crossed this very pass — one of the earliest recorded crossings in the Belianske Tatras.
