Bystra Ławka is a high-mountain pass in the Slovak High Tatras, sitting at 2315 m above sea level. It serves as the lowest point on the ridge between Furkot peak and Veľké Solisko, forming a dramatic gateway between two stunning valleys. If you are after a genuine alpine experience complete with fixed chains and rocky terrain, this pass delivers exactly that.

The pass separates the rocky groups of Bystre Czuby and Bystre Turniczky, framing sweeping views of the surrounding Solisko ridge and the Furkot massif. In summer the sunlit granite glows golden, in autumn mist rolls through the valleys below, and in late spring lingering snowfields add an extra touch of adventure. • Štrbské Pleso — yellow trail, along Mlynická Valley past the Skok waterfall, approx. 3 h 30 min up / 2 h 35 min down, demanding
• Furkotná Valley — yellow trail (from the junction with the blue trail), approx. 2 h up / 1 h 30 min down, demanding

Practical information

• The trail through the pass is open in both directions, but the recommended direction is from Mlynická Valley towards Furkotná Valley to avoid bottlenecks at the fixed chains.
• Fixed chains are installed on the rocky sections — sure-footedness and basic scrambling experience are essential.

The marked trail over Bystra Ławka has only existed since 1993 — before that, hikers crossed via the nearby Bystry Przechód, a shoulder on the south-eastern ridge of Furkot peak. A small historical detail that makes this corner of the Tatras feel even more special.
