Standing at 2,403 m above sea level in the heart of the High Tatras, Furkotský štít is a rugged, trail-free summit that rewards adventurous hikers with sweeping 360-degree views and genuine mountain solitude. Perched above Štrbské Pleso in the Kriváň ridge, it sits where three nature reserves meet — a wild corner of the Tatras that feels refreshingly untamed.

The peak is a true topographic crossroads: southward runs the Solisko Ridge separating Mlynická and Furkotská valleys, while the western slopes drop steeply into Nefcerka, a branch of Kôprová Valley. The terrain is rocky and alpine — in summer, patches of dwarf pine give way to open scree and grassy ridges; in autumn the valleys below blaze with colour; in winter the whole area transforms into a serious high-mountain environment. The summit panorama takes in dozens of Tatra peaks as well as parts of the Low Tatras, Volovské vrchy and the Orava Beskids.

• Bystré sedlo — via yellow-marked trail through Mlynická or Furkotská valley to the saddle, then an unmarked rocky route to the top; moderate to demanding, scree and rock terrain.

• No marked hiking trail leads to the summit — access is only possible via an unmarked route from Bystré sedlo.
• The peak lies within Tatranský národný park and at the junction of three national nature reserves: Furkotská dolina, Kôprová dolina and Mlynická dolina.
• The first recorded ascent was made by Poles K. Tetmajer and T. Boy-Żeleński with mountain guides around 1889.

Furkotský štít holds a unique distinction — its summit sits precisely at the meeting point of three separate national nature reserves, making it one of the most ecologically significant junctions in the entire High Tatras.
