Practical information

• Swimming and water sports are not allowed — this is a working reservoir supplying drinking water

Built between 1949 and 1952, the dam was one of two major hydro-engineering projects of the young GDR and once proudly bore the name 'Dam of Friendship' — a memorial stone still recalls those times today.
