Peruća Lake is an artificial reservoir on the Cetina River, the third largest lake in Croatia, covering around 15 km2 with depths reaching up to 65 metres. Created by the Peruća Dam, it has become a peaceful escape in the karst landscape of inland Dalmatia.
The scenery combines deep blue water with dry, rocky hills typical of the Cetina valley. Because the dam regulates flooding and powers downstream hydroelectric plants, water levels shift noticeably between seasons — higher in autumn and winter, lower in summer. When the water drops, remnants of the submerged Dragović monastery and stone houses from flooded villages sometimes reappear above the surface, offering a haunting glimpse into the area's past. The lake is popular with anglers and is well known as a training ground for Croatian and international rowers, including Olympic and world medal winners.

Practical information
In February 2012, nearly 90% of the lake's surface froze — the first time this had ever been recorded.
