Ostrov u Jedomělic is a small but botanically remarkable nature reserve tucked into the Džbán landscape park, where a steep, sun-drenched slope hosts a striking array of warmth-loving plants. It's a rewarding stop for nature lovers who enjoy discovering rare flora away from the crowds.

The protected area covers a steep, forested southeast-facing slope resting on Cretaceous sandy-limestone marlstone. In late spring and early summer the hillside comes alive with color - the endangered burning bush (Dictamnus albus) blooms alongside martagon lily, bastard balm, and even the rare lady's slipper orchid. Surrounding woodlands keep the area shaded and cool, while the nearby remains of the vanished Ostrov stronghold add a layer of history to the walk.

How to get there

• From Jedomělice village - short forest path, easy difficulty, about 20-30 minutes on foot
• Can be combined with a visit to the nearby ruins of a medieval settlement and stronghold site
