Nosická priehrada is a scenic reservoir on the Váh River, stretching just upstream of the town of Púchov in western Slovakia. Built between 1949 and 1957, it blends industrial heritage with natural beauty — a calm expanse of water framed by rolling hills, making it a favourite local escape for anglers, walkers and anyone who simply wants to slow down.

Covering 5.7 km² at an elevation of around 277 m above sea level, the reservoir changes character with every season. Summer brings shimmering water and green banks ideal for a quiet stroll. Autumn is arguably the most photogenic time, when the surrounding hillsides burst into gold and amber reflected perfectly in the still water. Winter strips everything back to a peaceful, almost meditative stillness that feels rare so close to a town.

• Púchov town centre — the reservoir is within easy walking or cycling distance from the town; flat and easy terrain.
• Nosice village — located right by the dam wall, accessible by car from Púchov, with parking available near the dam.

• The adjacent Nosice hydroelectric power plant (67.5 MW) is an active facility; the immediate area around the dam structure may have restricted access.
• Fishing is a popular activity here — a valid fishing permit is required.
• Water levels may be temporarily lowered due to ongoing railway bridge construction works in the area.

When the reservoir was filled in the 1950s, the entire village of Okrut disappeared beneath its surface — on very low water days, traces of the old settlement can occasionally be glimpsed, giving this peaceful lake an unexpectedly haunting story.
