Lohenbachtal is a small but charming stream valley in the Ore Mountains of Saxony, where nature has been left largely undisturbed for over two decades. It's a great spot for anyone seeking quiet time away from crowds, surrounded by the sound of flowing water and forest shade.

The valley's landscape features steep, forested slopes through which the Lohenbach stream flows, later joining the Geyerbach further east. Nearby to the north rises the Kleine Fuchsstein peak (629 m), offering views over the surrounding area. In spring the valley bursts with fresh green foliage and birdsong, summer brings welcome shade, autumn paints the slopes in warm colors, and winter blankets everything in snow for a quiet, storybook atmosphere. It's a lovely place to walk in any season.

How to get there

• From Tannenberg — the area lies southwest of the village, easily accessible on foot, easy difficulty
• From the S 222 road (western border) or S 260 (northeastern border) — convenient starting points for shorter walks
