Leopoldskroner Weiher is a scenic palace pond at the foot of Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, famous for its postcard-perfect views and its connection to The Sound of Music. Just a short walk from the old town, it offers a quiet escape with the palace reflected in the water and the Alps rising behind it.

Fed by the Almkanal, the pond is surrounded by an extensive landscape park that blends into the neighboring Leopoldskroner Moos and Gneis-Moos wetlands. In summer, locals stroll along its shores or relax on benches with the palace silhouette mirrored on the surface; in winter, the pond has traditionally been used as a skating area when frozen. The nearby chestnut-lined Leopoldskronerstraße, the oldest chestnut avenue in the state of Salzburg, adds extra charm, especially in autumn.

Although the site is often marketed as a Sound of Music filming location, only scenes shot on the neighboring Meierhof grounds are confirmed — yet the view across the pond to the palace remains one of Salzburg's most iconic images.
