Nestled at the southwestern edge of the Silická planina plateau within the Slovak Karst National Park, Domica sits just a stone's throw from the Hungarian border. Its chambers carry evocative names — the Hall of Mysteries, the Virgin's Passage, the Jungle, the Hall of Indian Pagodas — and the grandest of them all, Majko's Dome, is where all the cave's corridors converge in a spectacular display of cave formations. Two underground rivers, the Styx and the Domica, shaped these halls over millennia; the Styx still forms a small, eerily beautiful lake inside the cave. Part of the tour takes you along the cave by boat, gliding past extraordinary formations in near silence.
