Pipitka (1,225 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of its namesake sub-unit within the Volovské vrchy range, sitting roughly 9 km east of Rožňava. There is no marked trail to the summit, which only adds to the sense of quiet adventure awaiting those who make the effort to reach it.

The summit is covered with sparse, patchy vegetation that opens up generous views in multiple directions — on a clear day you can spot the High Tatras, the Slovak Karst, the Low Tatras, the Stolické vrchy, the Revúcka Highlands and the Slanské vrchy. The peak sits on a ridge running south from Zlatý stôl through Úhornianske sedlo towards Osadník (1,186 m). Each season brings its own mood: fresh greens in spring, deep forest silence in summer, and a blaze of colour across the slopes in autumn.

• From the northwest, from Skalisko — red trail (Cesta hrdinov SNP) via Úhornianske sedlo (999 m), then off-trail to the summit; difficulty: moderate.
• From the east, from the Bodovka junction — red trail (Cesta hrdinov SNP) via Orlia studňa; difficulty: moderate.
• From the west from Pača or from the north from Úhorná — green trail via Úhornianske sedlo; difficulty: moderate.

• No marked trail leads directly to the summit — the final stretch requires basic off-trail navigation skills.
• The Cesta hrdinov SNP (red trail) passes nearby on a traverse and serves as the main access route.

Interestingly, the northern and eastern slopes of Pipitka drain via the Smolník stream into the Hnilec river, while the southern ridge feeds into the Slaná river — a subtle but fascinating watershed divide running right through the heart of the Slovak Ore Mountains.
