Heřmanický Pond is a peaceful, flow-through fishpond tucked into the gentle hills of the Zákupská Pahorkatina, just 5 km southeast of Česká Lípa. It's a quiet escape for anyone craving still water, birdsong, and open countryside rather than crowds.

The shoreline is a patchwork of shrubs, trees, and wetland patches, giving the pond a wild, natural feel rather than a manicured one. Fed by the Ploučnice river and a few smaller streams, the water loops back into the Ploučnice just 300 metres downstream. In spring and summer, the pond comes alive with nesting waterfowl, while autumn mornings often bring a soft mist over the water. It's less about dramatic views and more about slow, restorative moments in nature.

How to get there

• From the village of Heřmaničky - a 200-metre local road past horse pastures, a few minutes' walk, easy difficulty
• Cycle route 3054 from Česká Lípa passes through the village, along with a red-marked hiking trail from Mimoň to Česká Lípa
• About 2 km north lies the Vlčí Důl train stop on the line between Liberec and Česká Lípa

• The pond is part of the Natura 2000 protected area 'Ptačí oblast Českolipsko - Dokeské pískovce a mokřady', due to its wetlands and nesting birds
• It's used for fish farming and angling, managed by Rybářství Doksy spol. s r.o.
