Ptačí vršek is a modest, forested hill rising above fields and meadows in northern Bohemia, close to the small town of Zákupy. It's a place for those who appreciate quiet, off-the-beaten-path nature rather than dramatic views or crowded trails.

The hill has two subtle summits and is mostly covered in forest, while its eastern slope opens onto fields and meadows sloping down toward the village of Lasvice. The landscape here is gentle and calm, typical of the Cvikov Hills - no steep climbs or rocky terrain, just peaceful woodland walking. In spring and summer the surrounding meadows turn green, autumn brings warm forest colors, and in winter the area is blanketed in a quiet stillness rarely disturbed by other visitors.

How to reach the summit

• No marked trail leads directly to the hill - the nearest hiking trail is the green-marked path in Zákupy, along with cycling route 3045.
• From Lasvice, the hill lies only about 150 metres to the southeast, making the village a convenient starting point for exploring the area on your own.

Practical information

• The hill isn't marked on standard KČT hiking maps, but it does appear, complete with its name, on the Seznam map and cadastral maps.
• Since there's no official path, reaching the summit requires some independent orientation through the terrain.

The origin of the name Ptačí vršek (Bird Hill) has never been fully explained - local tradition links it either to a once-popular shooting competition called 'Ku ptáku', or to bird catchers who supposedly used the hill as a lookout post.
