Barania dolinka is a hidden upper hollow of the Black Valley (Čierna dolina), tucked beneath the northern wall of the Baranie rohy peaks. This is a place for those craving genuine High Tatras wilderness, far from marked trails and crowds.

The hollow sits at an elevation of 2,100-2,200 m, framed by the main ridge of the High Tatras - stretching from Kolový štít to Nižná Barania strážnica - and the Baranie hrebeň ridge. The scenery is rugged and rocky, typical of high-alpine Tatra terrain, where boulders and dwarf pine dominate and silence is broken only by wind. In summer, chamois can sometimes be spotted here, while in winter the area becomes completely isolated by snow and avalanche danger.

The name likely comes from shepherds of the Polish village of Jurgów, who grazed sheep in the lower parts of the valley, though poachers hunting chamois - divided by gender into goats, bucks, and rams - may have named it too.
