Tavpishyrka is one of the wildest and least-visited ridges in the Ukrainian Carpathians, tucked deep into the Gorgany massif. Stretching roughly 9 km and reaching 1503 m above sea level, it rewards adventurous hikers with sweeping alpine meadows, rocky scree fields, and a profound sense of mountain solitude.

The ridge runs from northwest to southeast, with steep, heavily forested slopes rising to open polonyny — highland meadows — near the summits. Several gentle peaks punctuate the crest: Tavpysh (1450.9 m), points at 1455.5 m and 1464 m, and the highest at 1503 m. In summer the meadows bloom and views across the Gorgany open up magnificently; autumn turns the beech forests into a blaze of gold and copper; winter brings deep snow and true alpine conditions. The characteristic scree fields of the Gorgany massif appear on upper slopes, adding a rugged beauty to the landscape.

• From the village of Bystrytsya (Nadvirnyansky district, Ivano-Frankivsk region) — approach from the northeastern foot of the ridge, passing the Salatruchil waterfall; difficulty: moderate to demanding.
• From the Zakarpattia side — the ridge is accessible from the northwest, though trails on this side are less clearly marked.

• The northwestern part of the ridge follows the administrative boundary between Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions — before World War II this was the state border between Poland and Czechoslovakia.
• Much of the ridge falls within protected areas: the Tavpyshyrkivsky botanical reserve, the Alpine Arboretum in the southeastern section, and the 'Tavpisyrka' nature reserve. The Zakarpattia side hosts the 'Gorgany and Tavpishyrka' botanical reserve.
• The Legion Pass lies to the south of the ridge; the dramatic escarpment known as 'Peklo' (Hell) is to the northwest.

The name itself is steeped in legend — one theory traces it to the nickname of Vlad III Dracula ('Ţepeş', meaning 'Impaler'), suggesting that sharpened-log defensive fortifications once lined this ridge.
