Studenets (1,600 m a.s.l.) is a rugged, off-the-beaten-path summit in the Grofy-Popadi massif of the Western Gorgany range — and the dramatic closing piece of an impressive mountain arc stretching from Kin-Grofetskyi through Grofa, Parenky, Popadia, Koretvyna and Horgan Petros. If you love wild, trailless terrain and genuine solitude in the Carpathians, this peak has your name on it.

The summit is completely blanketed in alpine pine (mugo pine), which gives it a characteristically dense, almost impenetrable crown. The slopes drop steeply on all sides except for a gentler south-western descent that forms a saddle connecting Studenets with neighbouring Horgan Petros. There are remnants of an old ridge traverse here, but no maintained path exists. The nearest marked trail runs roughly 400 m west of the Petros summit — a red-marked route descending into the Petros river valley at the confluence of the Zgonyliw and Studenets streams.

• Petros river valley (Rozhniativ district, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast) — follow the red-marked trail towards Horgan Petros, then continue east along the unmarked ridge for approximately 400 m to the summit; demanding, no official trail on the final section.

• There is no marked trail directly to the summit — navigation skills and experience with off-trail terrain are essential.
• The remnants of the old ridge traverse are unreliable and should not be used as a guide.
• Dense mugo pine cover on the summit makes progress without a clear path very difficult.

Studenets is the wild full stop at the end of one of the Western Gorgany's finest ridge sentences — a rewarding challenge for those who've already ticked Horgan Petros and want to push just a little further into genuine wilderness.
