Stredná hoľa (1,876 m a.s.l.) is a ridge-top gem in the Low Tatras that rewards hikers with an unrestricted 360-degree panorama across Slovakia and beyond. Sitting on the main crest of the Kráľovohoľské Tatry, between Orlová and the iconic Kráľova hoľa, it is a natural highlight of any traverse along this part of the range.

The summit and ridge are blanketed in low alpine grassland and scattered rocky fields – the kind of open terrain that keeps the horizon wide and the views unobstructed in every direction. On a clear day you can spot the High and Western Tatras, Malá Fatra, Chočské vrchy, Oravská Magura, the Kremnica Hills, Poľana, Veporské and Stolické vrchy, and even peaks across the border in northern Hungary. Spring brings vivid green to the highland meadows, summer is perfect for long ridge walks, while autumn paints the surrounding forests in warm colours that contrast beautifully with the bare crest. Winter conditions here can be harsh and require appropriate preparation.

The Cesta hrdinov SNP – 'Path of the SNP Heroes' – follows routes used by partisans during the Slovak National Uprising of 1944, giving every step across this ridge an added layer of history.
