Špičák (995 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Sokolov district, tucked away in the western Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) — a quiet summit that rewards hikers with sweeping views and exposed granite outcrops rarely crowded with visitors.

The character here is wild and open: gently rolling terrain leads up to bare granite rocks at the top, with a small wooden gazebo just below the summit on the northern side. The panorama stretches west to north across the Rájecké valley to the ridges of the Ore Mountains, which form the Czech-German border, and westward you can spot the lookout tower on Olověný vrch. In summer the surrounding heathlands turn a soft purple, while autumn and winter bring a bare, windswept, almost lonely atmosphere to the ridge.

How to reach the summit

• Přebuz — green trail, shortest and easiest route, starting at around 900 m elevation with a short, steep final climb to the 995 m summit; easy
• Stříbrná / Rájecké údolí — longer and more demanding route via the Stříbrná–Nancy junction, through forested valley to the red/green trail junction, past Šišák hill to the turn-off below the summit (about 250 m to the top); total elevation gain around 350 m, more than the short route; demanding

• The Přebuzské vřesoviště nature reserve lies about 3.5 km away and makes a great addition to a day trip to the summit

Despite its modest height, Špičák holds the title of the highest point in the Sokolov district — a small but proud summit with a big view over the border ridges of the Ore Mountains.
