Kühgundkopf is the local mountain of Oberjoch in the Allgäu Alps, offering a rewarding ridge hike with sweeping views over the surrounding peaks. It's a great pick for hikers who want a satisfying summit without an overly technical climb.

The long, stretched-out ridge of the mountain is slightly rocky on its northern side, and together with the neighbouring Iseler it forms the northern end of the Rauhhorn range. In summer it's a peaceful ridge walk with panoramic Allgäu views, while in winter the slopes turn into ski terrain, with lifts climbing up from both Oberjoch and Schattwald. On the north-eastern ridge descending toward the Tannheim Valley sits the rocky Kühgundspitze (1852 m), marked with a summit cross.

• From Oberjoch via Hintere Wiedhagalpe - approx. 2.5 hrs, moderate
• From Hinterstein (866 m) via Zipfelsalpe - approx. 3 hrs
• From Schattwald (1072 m) through the Stuibental valley - approx. 2.5 hrs
• From the Iselerbahn cable car top station (Oberjoch) via Iseler and the Iselergrat ridge - approx. 1.5 hrs, ridge walk, caution advised with children
• From the Wannenjochbahn cable car top station (Schattwald) - approx. 45 min

• Two cable cars, the Iselerbahn and Wannenjochbahn, make it possible to shorten the approach considerably
• The Iselergrat route runs along an exposed ridge, so extra care is needed with children

Interestingly, on Austrian maps this peak appears under a different name, Wannenjoch, which can occasionally confuse hikers planning their route.
