The Nebelhorn (2224 m) is one of the most iconic peaks of the Allgäu Alps, easily reached from Oberstdorf via the Nebelhornbahn cable car. It's a place where sweeping views of the Daumen massif meet genuinely comfortable mountain infrastructure, welcoming both seasoned hikers and families with strollers.

The summit rises along a ridge connecting the Geißfuß with the Großer and Kleiner Daumen, and its distinctive geology — main dolomite at the top, flysch at the base — gives the landscape a striking variety. In summer it's a favourite for hikers and climbers heading off to the Hindelanger Klettersteig, while in winter it becomes one of the region's most popular ski areas, offering runs of every difficulty plus paths for walkers and a toboggan run.

• The Höfatsblick station and the summit station both have accessible restaurants and disabled toilets
• A wheelchair-friendly panoramic path has existed since 2005, and the accessible Nordwandsteig trail around the summit opened in 2016

The name Nebelhorn ('fog horn') comes from how the peak appeared from the upper Iller valley — when shrouded in fog, locals reportedly used it to predict a change in weather. The first ski ascent was recorded back in 1901.
