Krahulec is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path peak in the Kozie chrbty range, perfect for hikers seeking solitude and sweeping views without the crowds. It rises above the village of Šuňava, about 10 km southwest of Svit, within the protective zone of the Low Tatras National Park. The Hornád River has its source on its southern slope.

The summit is covered in patchy forest that occasionally opens up to reveal views of the surrounding Kozie chrbty and nearby Low Tatras, and on clear days even the Western and High Tatras — including Kriváň, Vysoká and Gerlachovský štít. Branisko can sometimes be spotted too. Krahulec is a key junction point where the Kozie chrbty ridge meets the ridge running through Jedlinská and Úplaz toward Kráľova hoľa. The atmosphere here is wild and rarely visited, ideal for those who enjoy trailless terrain.

How to reach the summit

• From Šuňava — via forest roads, no marked trail, moderately demanding due to route-finding
• Via the Čierny Váh valley — accessible from the direction of Liptovská Teplička, also along forest roads

• No marked hiking trail leads to the summit — access is only via forest roads
• A cycling route runs along the southwestern foot of the mountain through the Čiernovážska valley, connecting the settlement of Čierny Váh with Liptovská Teplička

Interesting fact: the southern slope of Krahulec is the source of the Hornád, one of Slovakia's significant rivers.
