Kiczera Dydiowska is a forested peak tucked into the Western Bieszczady Mountains, wrapped around a great bend of the San River right on the border with Ukraine. It's a place for hikers craving solitude - no crowded trails here, just wild forest and some fascinating geology underfoot.

The summit forms the end of a ridge branching off from Bukowe Berdo at the peak of Widełki, running north through Dział before curving northeast into the river bend at Dydiowa. Across the water, already in Ukraine, rises Kiczera Popowa - a reminder of just how close the border really is. The whole massif is cloaked in forest, while its gentle saddle, Bortyszcze, is covered in meadows sloping down toward the Muczne stream valley. The entire area lies within the San Valley Landscape Park, giving it a distinctly untamed feel - especially striking in autumn when the forests turn golden, and in winter when silence blankets the slopes.

How to get to the summit

• Dydiowa - approach via Dział and Bortyszcze, time depends on pace, moderately demanding due to the lack of marked trails near the summit
• Alternative approach from the Muczne valley via the Bortyszcze saddle

• On the northern slope below the summit lies Dydiowska Jama, one of the larger caves in the Bieszczady Mountains, worth a visit for cave enthusiasts
• The area lies right along the state border marked by the San River - caution is advised, and the border should not be crossed

Interesting fact: the peak is built of a distinctive sandstone type known as Kiczera Dydiowska sandstone, part of the Krosno beds - a genuine geological rarity in this corner of the Bieszczady.
