Gregória (1,045.8 m a.s.l.) is a quiet summit in the central part of the Kozie chrbty range, rising above the village of Šuňava, roughly 11 km west of Svit. It's a spot for those who want to escape the crowds of the High Tatras while still catching glimpses of them from afar.
The summit is covered by patchy forest that occasionally opens up, offering limited but rewarding views of the surrounding peaks of the Kozie chrbty and the nearby Low Tatras, and on clear days even the Western and High Tatras, including the iconic Kriváň and Vysoká. In winter the area takes on a hushed, remote feel, while summer brings lush greenery to the forests and meadows. This is terrain for hikers who value solitude over marked convenience.
How to reach the summit
Practical information
Gregória won't make it into any list of Slovakia's famous peaks, but that quiet anonymity is exactly what makes it worth the detour for a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path hike.
