The Gedrechter is a 2217-metre peak in the Tuxer Alps, rising above the western slopes of the Zillertal valley. Located about five kilometres west of Aschau, it's known as a classic viewpoint mountain thanks to its exposed position above the valley.

The character of the Gedrechter is one of open, rolling terrain typical of the Tuxer Alps. In winter, its slopes form the northeastern edge of the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal ski area, buzzing with skiers and snow sports. In summer the mood shifts entirely — the mountain becomes a quiet hiking destination, its marked trails winding through alpine meadows with sweeping views over the Zillertal valley and the surrounding ridgelines. It's a rewarding outing for hikers who want a genuine summit feel without an overly technical climb.

How to reach the summit

• Kaltenbacher Schihütte (1723 m, on the Zillertaler Höhenstraße) — approx. 1.5 hours, moderate difficulty
