The Kitzbühel Alps are among the most welcoming mountain ranges in the Eastern Alps — rolling green summits, flower-dotted alpine meadows and spectacular views without the need for technical climbing skills. This is a region where unspoiled mountain nature meets excellent tourism infrastructure, perfect for hikers of all levels.

Stretching roughly 80 km from the Zillertal valley in the west to Zeller See in the east, the landscape is defined by rounded, grass-covered ridges typical of the so-called Tiroler Grasberge — the grassy mountains of Tyrol. Countless alpine pastures (Almen) dot the hillsides, while peaceful valleys invite leisurely walks and cycling tours. The highest point is Kreuzjoch (2,558 m), located in the southwestern corner of the range. Unlike the rugged limestone giants nearby, these mountains offer a softer, more accessible character — ideal for multi-day trekking without ropes or crampons.
