Durnia (1705 m a.s.l.) is the northwesternmost peak of the Bratkivskyi Ridge in the Gorgany range — one of the wildest and least crowded massifs of the Ukrainian Carpathians. An open, treeless summit with rocky scree fields and low-growing mountain pine awaits you, along with sweeping views of the neighbouring peaks.

The summit and upper slopes are unforested, scattered with stone debris and dwarf pine thickets — raw Gorgany character at its best. Looking southeast, the peaks of Hropa (1759 m) and Bratkivska (1788 m) line up in a beautiful ridge. Snow lingers here well into spring, summer brings cool breezes across the exposed crest, and autumn sets the forests below ablaze with colour. In winter this corner of the Carpathians becomes a true wilderness.

• From Bystrytsya (Nadvirnyanskyi district, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast) — approach through forest to the Bratkivskyi Ridge; moderate difficulty, approximately 3–4 hours.
• From Brustury (Tyachivskyi district, Zakarpattia oblast) — approach from the southwest via the Turbat river valley; moderate difficulty.

• Durnia sits on the border between Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts — check current regulations regarding access to border zones before your trip.
• Trail markings are sparse — a topographic map or GPS device is strongly recommended.

As the outermost northwestern peak of the Bratkivskyi Ridge, Durnia serves as a natural gateway to the whole chain — from its summit you can already spot the next summits inviting further exploration.
