Bukowina is a peak in the very heart of the Western Bieszczady Mountains, offering the simplicity and quiet that define this range. It's a great pick for hikers seeking scenic clearings without the crowds found on nearby, more popular summits.

Bukowina sits on the ridge running north from Smerek, between Żołobina and Siwarna, separated from the latter by a saddle at 826 m a.s.l. The slopes are mostly forested, but near the summit a string of clearings covered in bilberry bushes opens up – a nice spot for some summer foraging. From these clearings you get lovely views of Smerek, Połonina Wetlińska, and the Czerenina massif. In autumn the surroundings glow with color, while in winter snow highlights the gentle ridgelines, though the trail can be demanding then due to snow and ice.
