Boyaryn (1675 m a.s.l.) is one of the most impressive summits in the central Gorgany range of the Ukrainian Carpathians, also known by its alternative name Korotkan. Massive, wild and refreshingly off the beaten track, it rewards those willing to venture into one of the least-visited corners of the entire Carpathian arc.

The mountain has a broad, oval shape stretching east to west, connected to the west by a gentle saddle to the neighbouring peak of Negrova (1604 m). Its upper and summit zones are covered with sprawling boulder fields and scree slopes that give Boyaryn a rugged, almost alpine feel, while the lower flanks are blanketed in dense mixed and coniferous forest. The northern slopes drain into tributaries of the Bystrytsya Solotvynska river, the southern ones into those of the Bystrytsya Nadvirnyanska. From the top, you get a sweeping panorama: the Syvulya ridge to the northwest, Stanymir to the east, and Tavpyshyrka to the south. To the west lies the dramatic rocky escarpment known as 'Urvy shche Peklo', and to the south stands the peak of Okopy (1243 m).

• Bohorodchany district, Ivano-Frankivsk region — approach via the Bystrytsya Solotvynska valley (northern slopes) or Bystrytsya Nadvirnyanska valley (southern slopes); trails are unmarked or poorly marked; difficulty: moderate to demanding.

• Trails in the Gorgany are largely unmarked — carry a topographic map and GPS device.
• Boulder fields near the summit require careful footing, especially in wet conditions.

The Gorgany massif, home to Boyaryn, is considered one of the wildest and most pristine areas of the Ukrainian Carpathians — a true refuge for those seeking solitude and untouched mountain nature.
