Boraczy Wierch is a quiet, forest-covered peak tucked within the Lipowski Wierch and Romanka mountain group, in the Żywiec-Orava Beskids. It's a great pick for hikers wanting to escape the crowds found on neighbouring peaks like Rysianka or Lipowski Wierch.

The summit itself is almost entirely wooded, so don't expect sweeping panoramas — instead, you'll find dense forest, deep valleys and a real sense of solitude. The ridge running from Rysianka through Lipowski Wierch to Redykalny Wierch separates the valleys of the Żabniczanka and Bystra streams. On the south-eastern slopes lie three traditional pastoral clearings — Bacmania, Hala Gawłowska and Bieguńska — where in summer you might spot grazing livestock and classic Beskid pastoral scenery. In winter, the forested slopes turn into a hushed, snow-covered retreat, perfect for peaceful snowshoe walks.

Practical information

• The yellow trail passes through the nearby pastoral clearings but bypasses the actual summit of Boraczy Wierch
• The green trail traverses the northern slopes much lower down
• On the lower slopes near Śmierdzący Potok stream, there's a sulphur spring known for its healing properties
• The administrative border between Żabnica and Złatna runs right along the main ridge of the peak

The peak's name has a curious history — for years it was mistakenly labelled Motyków Wierch on maps, until the PTTK Naming Commission officially confirmed the name Boraczy Wierch in 1981.
