Zbirohy is a romantic medieval castle ruin perched above the Jizera River near the town of Turnov in Bohemia — a hidden gem where crumbling stone walls, forested crags and a legendary black knight all come together. Built in the 14th century on a narrow rocky ridge, the castle still preserves parts of its walls, a tower and underground cellars.

The ruins sit on a steep, narrow spur in a meander of the Jizera River at around 450 m above sea level. Tall trees wrap the site in shade and seclusion, creating an atmospheric escape in every season. Autumn brings fiery foliage and morning mist that drifts over the river below, making the whole place feel almost magical. In summer the forest canopy keeps things cool and pleasant underfoot.
