Perched atop the steep Baszta hill overlooking the Poprad River, the ruins of this medieval castle once guarded the border between Poland and Hungary. Today it's a place where crumbling stone walls meet legends of hidden treasure, topped by a freshly rebuilt tower offering some of the best views in the region.

The hill, part of the Koziejówka range, rises sharply above the river valley and is cloaked in forest that provides welcome shade in summer and bursts into color in autumn. In winter, bare branches open up broader views across the Poprad valley below. Thanks to a recent restoration project, the old tower has been rebuilt to a height of 14 meters, complete with a glazed observation deck, a café, and an exhibition hall — a rare blend of genuine medieval ruins and modern visitor comforts.

Legend has it that a local starosta named Bedliński hid treasure in secret tunnels beneath the castle, guarded by two petrified children, while another tale speaks of enchanted soldiers sleeping below who wake once a year on Palm Sunday, awaiting the day they'll rise to fight for Poland.
