The Sułkowski Princes' Castle is the oldest and largest historic building in Bielsko-Biała — a Gothic fortress dating back to the 14th century that once guarded the border between Silesia and Lesser Poland, and today houses one of the most fascinating regional museums in the country. According to local legend, the site was once home to a robbers' den preying on travelling merchants — it was only when Duke Kazimierz of Opole drove them out that a hunting lodge was built here, around which the entire town of Bielsko eventually grew.
