Červený Hrádek is an early Baroque château perched on a rocky spur at the foot of the Ore Mountains, on the northern edge of Jirkov. It stands on the site of a medieval castle and today offers visitors a striking blend of architecture, history and green surroundings.

The four-wing château surrounds a courtyard and impresses with its ornate south facade, crowned by a richly decorated portal from 1675 and a grand double staircase adorned with balustrades and vases. The surrounding landscape park and game reserve invite a relaxed stroll in any season - fresh greenery in spring, shady canopies in summer, and golden colors in autumn against the backdrop of the mountains. It's a peaceful spot where history and nature meet.

How to get there

• From the center of Jirkov - short walk, approx. 15-20 minutes, easy
• Accessible by car or bus to Jirkov, then on foot to the northern edge of town

Practical information

• A guided tour route and a technical museum in the former riding hall are open to visitors
• Since 2019, part of the game reserve has been protected as the Červený Hrádek Nature Monument
• The Chapel of St. John the Baptist from 1695 is part of the château complex

Sculptor Jan Brokoff once stayed at the château, and his works - fountains depicting Odysseus and Polyphemus - still decorate the courtyard today.
