Shypit is one of the most captivating waterfalls in the Ukrainian Carpathians — a wild, rushing cascade tucked into a forested gorge at the foot of Mount Gemba in the Polonyna Borzhava massif. The waterfall tumbles over ancient Paleogene sandstones and conglomerates in a shallow canyon carved by the Pylypets stream, within the Mizhhirskyi district of Zakarpattia Oblast. Spring is the most dramatic season, when melting snow on the slopes of Gemba swells the stream to its fullest. Summer brings cool shade and a refreshing mist, while winter transforms the falls into a glittering sculpture of ice and frost. The surrounding forest and the sound of rushing water make this a genuinely restorative spot.
