Pikuj (1408 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Vododilny Ridge — the eastward continuation of the Western Beskids — sitting right on the border between Lviv and Zakarpattia oblasts. It is a mountain of contrasts: dense beech and fir forests give way to subalpine meadows and dramatic rocky cliffs near the summit, rewarding hikers with the broadest panorama in the entire ridge.

The views from the top outreach those from any other summit in the Vododilny Range. The upper treeline sits unusually low at 1200–1250 m, meaning you pass through multiple vegetation zones in just a short stretch of trail. Rare subalpine plant species grow right at the summit, and the picturesque rocky escarpments and small cuestas give Pikuj a rugged, photogenic character in every season.

• From Lybohora village — local forestry workers offer paid transport to the Ruska Put pass (approx. 1200 m a.s.l.); from the pass it is 8 km along a well-worn path to the summit. The Lybohora–pass section is just over 3 km but steep.
• From villages Kryvka, Bilasovytsia or Husne — accessible by bus, then on foot.
• From Sianky railway station — a popular option for hikers travelling from Lviv by suburban train.

• On the summit stands a four-metre stone obelisk erected in 1935, and a plaque commemorating Ivan Franko's visit in 1883.
• The area is protected: a landscape and botanical nature reserve 'Pikuj' surrounds the peak.
• The Ruska Put pass is an ancient Neolithic trade route — a cross marked 'Ruska Put' still stands there, as do remnants of the former Polish–Czechoslovak border posts.

Ask locals in Bilasovytsia about their legendary 'yidkyi syr' — an exceptionally salty, pungent cheese made from the milk of a rare local cattle breed, perfect as a seasoning alongside unsalted baked potatoes.
