The Schwanenbrunnen is a charming fountain in Zwickau, sitting right at the edge of Schwanenteichpark - a lovely little stop for anyone strolling through the city and looking for a peaceful moment.

The fountain features a basin carved from ashlar limestone, topped with an information plaque, and a bronze sculpture of three swans rising from a central polygonal pedestal above the water. Side pipes and nozzles feed water into the basin, while the whole scene is framed by open space and a pergola, giving it a calm, park-like feel. It's especially pretty in spring and summer when the surrounding greenery is in full bloom, though it makes for a pleasant quick visit any time of year.

• The fountain sits at the edge of Schwanenteichpark, separated from the main park area by a four-lane road built in the 1980s

Fun fact: the fountain was funded by local ironmonger Albin Adolf Barth, and the winning design came from Dresden sculptor Paul Berger - the same artist behind the nearby war memorial standing in the same park.
