Adlerfelsen is a striking rock formation rising to 778.1 m above sea level, just south of the town of Eibenstock in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge). Made of coarse-grained tourmaline granite, its bulging blocks and ridges give it the look of a castle emerging suddenly from the surrounding spruce forest.

There's a quiet, storybook charm to this place — back in the late 19th century, a small wooden observation tower once stood here, giving hikers sweeping views over Eibenstock. Sadly, the tower fell into disrepair and was torn down, never to be rebuilt. Still, the area hasn't lost its magic. Just below the rocks lies the Reutergut, where on a clear day you can enjoy a panoramic view over Eibenstock, the surrounding ridges, and the Eibenstock Reservoir. On the northern slope toward town you'll find 'Wurzelrudis Erlebniswelt', an adventure park with an all-weather bobsled track and a ski lift — and occasionally, as local newspapers have reported, even proper parties.

Interesting fact: the rocks owe their rugged texture to tourmaline granite, a rare coarse-grained stone that gives Adlerfelsen its distinctive, castle-like silhouette.
