Wildenfels Castle rises on a rocky spur above the small town of Wildenfels near Zwickau in Saxony. It's best known for its extraordinary 18th-century paper and silk wallpapers, still preserved in the former living quarters of the count's family — a rare survivor of a once-common but now almost vanished art form.

Perched above the valley of the Zschocken-Wildenfels-Schönauer stream, the castle blends a medieval core with later, elegant residential additions. Its courtyards and surrounding park invite a relaxed stroll in any season, with the rolling hills of the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) providing a scenic backdrop, especially beautiful in spring and autumn.
