Schlettau Castle, in the town of the same name on the Zschopau river, is one of the key historic monuments along the old Salt Road in the upper Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge). Fully restored by 2006, it now lives on as a lively museum and cultural centre rather than a silent relic.

The castle also sits on the Silver Road, the historic route shaped by centuries of mining that runs from Schwarzenberg towards Dresden. A romantic park with two ponds surrounds the buildings, making a visit feel like a gentle countryside walk as much as a history lesson. In autumn the park glows with colour, in summer it invites lazy afternoons by the water, and in winter — especially around Christmas — the castle hosts events that give it a particularly cosy, festive atmosphere.
