Tucked away in the Sviatoslavia woodland hollow between the town of Skole and the village of Hrebeniw in the Ukrainian Carpathians, the Tomb of Prince Sviatoslav is one of the most atmospheric historical sites in the region. According to legend, this is where Sviatoslav Volodymyrovych — son of Vladimir the Great — was overtaken and killed in 1015 while fleeing the assassins sent by his brother Sviatopolk. History, legend and Carpathian wilderness meet in one unforgettable spot.

The landscape here is quintessentially Carpathian: forested hillsides, murmuring streams and the quiet, slightly melancholic mood of a deep mountain valley. Spring and summer bring lush greenery, while autumn transforms the surrounding forests into a blazing palette of gold and crimson. The only sounds are birdsong and the rush of the nearby Opir River — making this a wonderfully contemplative place to visit.

Local legend claims it was here that the attackers shouted 'Skoly them all!' — and that this cry gave the nearby town of Skole its name. Fact or folklore, the place leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.
