Krompach is a tiny border village tucked into the heart of the Lusatian Mountains, home to just 163 residents yet full of character thanks to its well-preserved timber-framed houses and peaceful, unhurried atmosphere. It's a place where you can wander quiet lanes lined with folk architecture right next to the Czech-German border.

The village stretches along a road at 400-600 m above sea level, at the southern foot of the Hvozd hill, surrounded by the gentle slopes of the Lusatian Mountains. It's made up of three settlements - Krompach, Juliovka and Valy - with the small Krompašský stream running through it. In summer the surroundings are lush and calm, autumn paints the hillsides in warm colours, and winter turns the region into a quiet, snow-covered escape perfect for slow walks and a break from the crowds.

• Red trail - the European long-distance E3 hiking route passes directly through the village, moderate difficulty, suitable for most hikers

Interesting fact: nearby you can still find trenches and fortifications from 1788, which were used by French troops during the Napoleonic Wars in 1813 - a real piece of history hidden among the meadows.
