This wooden church in Lachowice feels like stepping into a living piece of history — perched on a gentle hill above the village for over two centuries, it remains one of the finest examples of folk architecture in the region. It's a highlight of the Wooden Architecture Route of Małopolska and a peaceful stop for anyone exploring the Beskid Żywiecki mountains.

The church sits amid an old cemetery, surrounded by ancient trees and a wooden fence topped with shingle roofs, creating a truly atmospheric and tranquil setting. In summer the surroundings are lush and green, autumn brings golden foliage, and in winter the snow-capped tower with its onion-shaped dome looks straight out of a fairy tale. Practical information

• Built between 1789 and 1791, consecrated on 1 January 1792
• Mostly late Baroque interior, including a valuable Madonna painting modelled on the Czech Dudlebská Madonna
• Organ from 1836, built by Marcin Gracz of Pcim
• The adjoining cemetery is still in active use today
