Solniska (849 m a.s.l.) is one of those quietly rewarding summits in the Beskid Makowski range — off the beaten track, uncrowded, and full of genuine mountain character. No marked trail goes directly over the top, which makes it all the more appealing for hikers who like to discover something a little different.

The peak sits in the middle section of the Solniska Ridge, tucked between Opuśniak (819 m) and Jaworzyna, also known as Dzikasowa Góra (825 m). Its northwestern slopes drop into the Lachówka valley, while the southeastern flanks descend toward Stryszawka. Most of the hillsides are forested, but the open, treeless ridge between Solniska and Jaworzyna is home to the hamlet of Wsiórz, which offers lovely panoramic views over the surrounding ranges. Spring and autumn are particularly atmospheric here — green meadows in May, a blaze of colour in October.

• Lachowice – via Wsiórz and Opuśniok to Cicha Pass, continuing toward Jałowiec — traverses the northern and eastern slopes of Solniska, moderate difficulty.
• Hucisko Pass – via the Pod Solniskiem settlement and Wsiórz to Stryszawa (Siwcówka) — a second route traversing the eastern sub-summit slopes, moderate difficulty.

The name 'Solniska' comes from an old pastoral tradition: these were the spots where shepherds placed salt licks for their sheep grazing on the mountain pastures. In the hamlet of Wsiórz on the open ridge, you'll find a historic Loretan bell tower — a charming landmark and a great spot to pause and take in the views.
