The Heimatmuseum in Herrnhut is a charming local history museum housed in a baroque townhouse from 1764, offering visitors a genuine glimpse into 19th-century domestic life in Upper Lusatia. Its beautifully preserved rooms feel like stepping directly into the Biedermeier era.

Wandering through the museum feels like a journey back in time - hand-printed wallpapers, elegant Biedermeier furniture, historic clocks, delicate hair pictures, and a charming collection of veduta cups with Herrnhut motifs create an intimate, authentic atmosphere. The adjoining garden, with its 200-year-old chinoiserie-style pavilion, is part of the GartenKulturPfad Oberlausitz garden trail and is especially lovely in spring and summer when the greenery frames the baroque summerhouse. In winter, the cozy tiled-stove rooms evoke the warmth of bygone domestic life.
