Perched on a rocky plateau on the edge of the Vértes Hills, Csókakő Castle is the only surviving medieval castle in Fejér County, one that endured even the Ottoman era. Travelers heading northwest from Székesfehérvár can spot it from a great distance, standing proudly on the slope of the 479-meter Csóka Hill.

The site has a striking character - steep rock faces protect it on three sides, further reinforced by an artificial rock ditch. The older upper castle dates back to the 13th century, while the much larger lower castle was added in the 15th century by the Rozgonyi family. From the ruins, views stretch across the Gaja stream valley and the surrounding Vértes landscape, with the atmosphere shifting beautifully between the bare winter stone and the lush greenery of spring and summer.

Interestingly, a 1690 sketch shows a mosque on the site, also mentioned by the Ottoman traveler Evliya Çelebi, though archaeological excavations have never confirmed its existence.
