Nestled at 1,393 metres above sea level in the scenic Roháčska Valley of the Western Tatras, Ťatliakova chata is one of Slovakia's most beloved mountain huts. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or a launchpad for high-alpine adventures, this place delivers on both fronts.

The hut sits amid classic Western Tatra scenery — wide alpine meadows, rushing streams and ridgelines draped in dwarf pine. Right beside the hut lies the charming Ťatliakovo lake, which reflects snowy peaks in spring, shimmers peacefully through summer and glows with autumn colours when the season turns. In winter the whole valley becomes a snowy wonderland, and the hut is a welcome warm stop for skiers and ski tourers alike.

From here you can head out towards the Zábrať saddle, the Roháčske lakes, Rákoň or Smutné sedlo — making it a brilliant base for a whole range of day trips. Families with children will find the approach easy and rewarding, while more seasoned hikers will appreciate the variety of onward routes.

The site has a long history stretching back to 1883, when a small shelter first appeared on the bank of the Roháčsky stream — making Ťatliakova chata one of the oldest hospitality spots in the Western Tatras.
