Perched at 2,015 metres in the heart of the Malá Studená Valley, Téry Hut is the highest mountain refuge in the High Tatras open all year round — a rare distinction that makes it a favourite among hikers, climbers and ski tourers alike. Surrounded by the Five Spiš Lakes and towering rocky peaks, it feels like the mountain world's best-kept secret.

The hut sits on a rocky ledge above a cliff face, as if keeping watch over the valley below. In summer, the views stretch across Ľadový štít, Prostredný hrot, Široká veža, Snehový štít and Lomnický štít — a full gallery of High Tatra summits. Autumn brings stillness and dark, mirror-like lakes, while winter transforms the valley into a pristine alpine landscape accessible only to the well-prepared. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and authentic, far from the bustle of the lower tourist trails.

The hut was inaugurated on 21 August 1899, inspired by Edmund Téry — a Hungarian physician and tourism pioneer who made the first ascents of nearby Prostredný hrot and Pyšný štít. His name has graced this mountain refuge for well over a century.
