Planinski dom na Kališču (1534 m) is a mountain hut perched on the scenic southeastern ridge of Bašeljski vrh, above the former Kališče pasture. Run by PD Kranj since 1959, this hut has a real community spirit, kept alive by local mountain lovers who treat it as a second home.

The surrounding landscape opens up into sweeping views over the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and the hut makes an excellent base for tackling several nearby peaks. In summer it buzzes with hikers passing through, while outside the main season it stays open on weekends and holidays, so there's almost always a warm welcome waiting. Winter brings quiet, snow-covered ridgelines and a peaceful atmosphere that's hard to beat.

• From Preddvor via the village of Mače — about 2h30min, moderate difficulty
• From Spodnje Jezersko via Bašeljski vrh (1744 m) — about 3h30min, demanding
• Via the courier trail from Bašelj (Preddvor) — about 2h
• From Preddvor via Sv. Jakob — about 4h

The hut was built in 1959 by locals from nearby villages who carried materials up by horse, and it remains home to the Kališče Lovers Club (KLJUKA), organizers of the traditional 6 ur Kališča race.
