Chata pod Chlebom is the highest mountain hut in the Malá Fatra range — a place that feels equally welcoming to summer hikers and winter skiers. Perched at 1,423 m above sea level on the southern ridge of Mount Chleb, it offers stunning views, easy access and a warm, authentic mountain atmosphere.

From the terrace you can take in a sweeping panorama stretching across the Turiec Basin, the Veľká Fatra and the Lúčanská Malá Fatra. In summer the surrounding ridges are lush and green, perfect for exploring the main ridge peaks or making a trip to the nearby Šútovo Waterfall. In winter a ski lift right next to the hut makes it a popular base for skiers. The hut sits within Malá Fatra National Park, so the nature all around remains beautifully unspoiled.

• Chata Vrátna — via Snilovské sedlo, approx. 2 h 15 min up (1 h 35 min down), easy; the Vrátna–Chleb gondola makes access even simpler

The hut has survived fire twice — the original 1930 building was burned down by German soldiers in 1944, and its successor was destroyed by another fire on Easter Monday 1982. Rebuilt and renovated once more in 2021, the foundations of the old hut are still visible right beside the current building.
